Is your mind-set important to your weight?

By Toby Edge

Ok I'm not gonna waste anyone's time here building this up and making you wonder whether or not mind-set is actually important. The truth of the matter is that mind-set is not only important, it is the absolutely foundation of long term fat los success.

The first thing that we need to look at here is programming. This is really whats its all about. Now, when I say 'programming' I am really referring to your subconscious mind - the driving force behind each and every decision and action you make. Your path, whether towards success or failure, will be determined by your subconscious and how it has been programmed.

So where does this 'programming' come from? Well, essentially everything that we hear, everything that we say, everything that we do...will all be programs that are stored within our subconscious and this creates our beliefs. So, lets say you're told by people that diets don't work. You will then start to believe this yourself and will begin saying it to yourself with your own internal dialogue. All of this will add up to create this subconscious belief that dieting doesn't work.

These beliefs will then shape themselves into your attitudes. You'll begin to have a bad attitude towards diets on a subconscious level and this will determine your feelings towards food and dieting. You feelings towards anything will shape your actions. So if your feelings towards diets is that they don't work for you or that you cannot lose weight successfully, you'll end up acting in support of those feelings, attitudes, and beliefs.

So everything therefore starts with how you are programmed. If you have struggled for years with your weight and have tried multiple diets without long term success then you can be sure that your programming is not supporting you, but holding you back.

As they say, what you believe, you will achieve. This works both ways. Its used as a motivational quote but if your programming and, therefore, beliefs are negative, then it will result in a negative response. You will always remain overweight if your programming and mind-set are not tackled head on.

This is the foundation of all weight loss success. However it is, unfortunately, hugely neglected to the detriment of the majority of dieters and anyone trying to achieve permanent weight loss success. So, what can you do about this? Well, this is someone I'll look into in another article where you'll get some handy tips on how to make weight loss permanent.
