How People Are Starting to Use Kettle Exercises & the System

By Rob Sutter

Kettlebell training has come a long way since the Russian army under the Czar wanted to find a way to keep in shape during down periods between fights and wars. Make no mistake, however: this training program is hard, and the general individual will attempt it and blunder at first. The workouts have also made a major splash in the sports world, with professional athletes embracing the exotic workout program.

Professional athletes from across the sports world have begun to embrace kettlebell exercises because kettlebells offer a variety of exercises that regular dumbbells cannot, and that is a varied degree of motion. Lorna, one of the authorities on the trend, says that these weights offer a much better range of motion than a simple dumbbell, due in part to their design. They have, essentially, a cannonball with an iron handle. It's a big, heavy ball to swing around and you must pick it up and use more than a few muscles to use.

Kettlebells also propose something that dumbbells can't, and even something that whole gym sets can't offer. The weights provide not just strength training, but cardio workouts as well. The weights entail such a hard workout program for the body that it requires not just physical muscles to work on strength, but heart muscles to work on cardio as well. That is what gives it an edge over various workout programs; it requires the entire body to work as one unit.

This is only one out of a series of reasons for the popularity found by the workout program. What many people may not realize is the history being these particular weights. They started out in Russia and with that came a stigma. This was due to the fact that during the Cold War, supposedly when the kettlebells came to fruition, and the United States was not on good terms with the Soviet Union. If only people would have known how great an impact the weights would have today, I wonder how differently people would have behaved back then.

Things have begun to adapt however, and now the kettlebell is getting more and more notoriety in America as a legitimate system to use. Since the destruction of the Soviet Union, the citizens in the United States that did not grow up in the era of the cold war are now becoming adults themselves, and are starting to see things. One such thing is the weight workout that has come out of our former enemy's country. This is why this particular weight is gaining some serious ground in the sports world as a genuine workout program.
